Frequently Asked Questions

Donor FAQ

Will I get a tax receipt for my donation?

Since Rouge Gives is a registered not-for-profit and not a charity, we are unable to provide charitable tax receipts at this time. However, we will be considering applying for charitable status in the future, which would make this a possibility.

How much will families who qualify to receive financial subsidies pay to attend camp?

Recipient families will pay between 25% – 75% off the standard rate to attend camp, based on financial need.

Which Rouge Camps locations will recipient families attend, and during which weeks?

Markham: 1:1 support, financial assistance (July 11 – Aug. 19, 2022) & transportation service (July 18 – 29, 2022)

Richmond Hill: 1:1 support, financial assistance (July 11 – Aug. 19, 2022) & transportation service (July 18 – 29, 2022)

Maple: 1:1 support and financial assistance (July 11 – Aug. 12, 2022)

Is this the first time Rouge Camps will provide financial subsidies?

We have been providing between 1 – 5 spaces each week since 2019 by providing families with cheaper camp when they can prove financial need.  Further, we have benefited from being a recipient of Kids in Camp since 2021, who provide financial assistance to families to send their kids to a camp accredited by the Ontario Camps Association. We will continue to accept assistance through this program, but it only provided enough assistance for one family in 2021.  Rouge Gives allows us to extend financial aid further to many more families and, for the first time, provide subsidized camp and 1:1 staff support to campers with exceptionalities.

Parent FAQ

If my application is accepted, what will the subsidized rate be for my child to attend camp?

If approved, you will be allotted between 25% – 75% off our standard camp fees, based on assessed financial need.

Is the Meal Plan included?

Yes, it will be covered by Rouge Camps, if desired.  We hope that your campers week with us will be a positive week for you as well!

What if I don’t have means to transport my kid(s) to your camp location?

We will provide transportation by bus at no cost to you during the Weeks of July 11, 2022 and July 18, 2022. Only other campers will be on the bus along with one staff member.

Why launch a not-for-profit?

Every year Rouge Camps has experienced an increasing number of requests for financial assistance and support for campers with exceptionalities.  The global pandemic seems to have only increased this need.  To this point we have done what we can, but have run into limitations based on our business model and for-profit designation.  Launching Rouge Gives not-for-profit allows us to:

1.

Focus on a clear mandate of creating more financially subsidized camper spaces and staffing support for more families in need.

2.

Apply for additional funding opportunities available to not-for-profits to send more kids to camp.

3.

Provide volunteer hours to deserving and qualified students (only available for charities and not-for-profits).

4.

Provide an avenue for our extended and generous Rouge family to join forces in this worthy cause through donations.

5.

Apply for Canada Summer Jobs subsidies to create up to 100% subsidized paid jobs for students (only available for charities and not-for-profits).

6.

Take the first step towards achieving registered charitable status that will enable us to provide tax receipts for donors.
